President
Savanna Saunders
Savanna is a senior majoring in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology with a triple minor in Spanish, Marine Science, and Biochemistry. This past summer, she participated in the JT-SURF internship at Scripps Institute for Oceanography as well as being a summer counselor for the MISS shark science summer camp in Florida. Aside from being the President of MACS, she is involved in Alpha Kappa Alpha as the current president, Epsilon Eta and Arizona Ambassadors. She is super interested in researching coral reefs and marine ecology in the future. She also loves scuba diving, photography, and outdoor activities!
Vice President
Noah Fleisher
Noah is a senior majoring in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. He also has a minor in Astrobiology, Marine Science, and Geoscience. He is passionate about the oceans and marine ecology and he loves teaching others about it too! His favorite marine animal is the mimic octopus but also just loves cephalopods in general, there are too many to choose from!!
Treasurer
Avery Todd
Avery is a junior majoring in Natural Resources with an emphasis in Conservation Biology. She is also earning a minor in Marine Science. This past summer Avery interned at the OdySea Aquarium as an Animal Care Aquarist Intern. She learned a lot about different husbandry practices of fish and reptiles. She also learned how aquarists maintain suitable conditions in their exhibit. MACS is where she was able to engage in marine science and conservation with like-minded students. Her favorite sea creatures are large Wrasse species like the Humphead and Sheepshead wrasses.
Secretary
Seanna Jo Engel
Seanna is a senior majoring in Natural Resources with an emphasis in Conservation Biology and a minor in Marine Science. Marine Biology has been a passion since Seanna was two. During the summer she interned in Clearwater, Florida at the Coastal Marine Education and Research Academy, working with sharks and stingrays. She learned to pit and ID tag wildlife, measure and identify individual species, and take DNA samples. MACS is where she found equally passionate people who want to create change and bring awareness about Marine issues on campus! Her favorite animal is a Thresher Shark!
Outreach Coordinator
Joseph Bishop
Joey is a sophomore majoring in Optical Sciences & Engineering, and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology with a minor in Marine Sciences. He joined MACS to meet people with a shared scientific interest in ocean conservation and talk about octopuses as much as he possibly can! His favorite marine animal is undoubtedly the blue-ringed octopus! He loves cephalopods for the mystery behind how they percieve color!
Communication Coordinator
Melanie Dewey
Melanie is a senior majoring in Natural Resources with an emphasis in Wildlife Conservation and Management. She is also earning her Zoo and Aquarium Certificate and GIS Certificate. This past summer, she had the opportunity to intern at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park in Washington. Melanie is very passionate about marine conservation and protecting wildlife found in the ocean. Her favorite marine animal is a Sea Otter and would love to do research with them someday.
